Katy Curve History

If you have read our mission and philosophy, you should be able to tell that Katy Curve Baseball is all about the growth of the kids. We feel that in order to prepare our players for high school and college level baseball we must consistently challenge them and give them opportunties to succeed and to learn from their failures. Select baseball should be fun, but in a much different way than in recreational baseball. The fun in select baseball comes from working hard to obtain goals, both individually and as a team, and once you reach those goals setting higher ones and obtaining them.

Our road to date has not been an easy one at times. We have had seasons where we worked very hard and didn't see results in the win-loss category. However, we believe that those times are necessary for the kids to learn about healthy competition, and to really appreciate the times when they are successful. We believe that is what growth is all about!

We simply ask our players to buy into something that is very challenging, but also very rewarding. We believe that select baseball provides a unique atmosphere for kids to learn about many things above and beyond physical baseball skills, and we tailor our program to highlight those things, such as sportsmanship, handling adversity, teamwork, mental toughness, and effort. As you can see below as we have gone through the seasons, there is a track record that shows a steady progression toward higher goals and higher achievements that we believe has made and continues to make our program a success!

2006 - The Journey Begins!

Age/Division 8U Coach Pitch / AA
Record 1-37-1
Highlights:
Won first game in team history; tied one of the better teams in the area, Texas Hurricanes, 11-11.
Season Summary:
Somewhat of a rude awakening! The kids learned that select baseball even at the AA level is very competitive and very difficult. The coaches and parents worked hard to keep the kids positive and believing they can be successful. Some people began to have doubts, but we stayed the course and strove forward into 9U.

2007 - Things Take Shape!

Age/Division 9U / AA
Record 23-59-2
Highlights:
Defeated the Katy Bearkats AAA team; Defeated the top AA team in the region, the South Houston Sluggers, 11-10, and took 2nd place in the Alvin NIT; finished first in the Spring KPB Open League; took 2nd place in the KPB Last Chance Qualifier, and qualified for and competed in first ever World Series event in Lake Charles, LA.
Season Summary:
The kids wanted to win and worked extremely hard over the winter break after struggling a little during the fall season. The work paid off with two 2nd place finishes in tournaments and the Spring open league championship. The kids began to see how playing as a team and working hard in practice brought with it some rewards!

2008 - The Pay Off!

Record 87-21-1
Highlights:
Won 10 tournament titles including the Texas State Championship; Open League championship; National USSSA points champions, 3rd place finish in the USSSA World Series in Kissimmee, FL.
Season Summary:
The kids simply carried out a dream season by any standard! All the hard work paid off and the season couldn't have been more special, including separate winning streaks of 18 games and 14 games. The kids were ready for AAA baseball and couldn't have proven it any better than they did!

2009 - Higher Goals!

Age/Division 11U / Elite
Record 25-33-3
Highlights:
2nd place finishes in 3 tournaments, 5th place finish in Texas State Tournament.
Season Summary:
Once again the kids learned that there is always better competition out there to be had! Moving up to the Elite level brought new challenges and new goals. There was some frustration after having the season the kids had in 2008, but they fought the adversity and overcame a lot of obstacles in finishing a respectable first season at this level right at .500.
